local ♥

We live in a happening / hip place - the Hudson Valley.
In local ♥ we'll highlight a few people, places, and things we love.

First up, a blog...
The beauty of a blog is that every where is "local",
but in the case of DoorSixteen.com they live in Newburgh, NY.
Anna and Evan chronicle the adventures of home ownership - specifically, their Victorian row house.
Seriously, put this on your reader.

t-shirt tuesday

This shirt is 100% loved.
The letters have cracked from frequent wearing (and hopefully washing).

ghosts of promotion past

Very few things have changed about our process since this postcard.
What has changed is the integral sink.  Unless you have a show kitchen
(used strictly for photo shoots) we recommend a drop-in or under-mount sink.
Time has made us older and wiser...

past (precast) projects

This weekend retreat in Copake Lake, NY is very custom.
The island and back splash are a custom gray with recessed decorative medallions.

Interestingly, the designer reversed some of the back splashes tile,
alternating between the smooth precast faces and the slightly textured backs.

The mosaic (on the right) utilized our tile and native stone from the site.

in the details

Not to get too detailed about the details, but let's break it down...

First there's the precast floor tile with recycled glass aggregate (detail below).

Then there's the precast green countertops with intregal drain board and trivet.

And last but not least, is the bar top with (matching) glass aggregate.

GNE Architecture used the exposed recycled aggregate for
both color and environmental impact (or lack there of).

done + done... alex scott porter

Okay, so we finished this project a while ago (2007) but it's worth a look...
The custom gray tub and vanity are a stunning suite, but the vanity steals the show.

The Alex Scott Port Design island allows for multiple uses in one slab,
AND acts as a room divider.
The bathroom side has the integral ramp sink and the dressing room side has the vanity.
