St. Bart's (would be nice)

This concrete floor was poured onsite at a residence in St. Bart's
It's clean and simple, and it's where we would like to be right now.

Just sayin'.

If

If you were, say, a high end retail store with lovely polished concrete floors, maybe you would, at times, have a sale.

If you did, and you thought maybe you should put stickers on that floor, stickers that identify a specific area the 'sale' area, you may be kicking yourself when you remove the sticker and the floor somehow still says 'sale'.

"Oops", you might say, or something slightly more offensive. Then you would call Get Real, because we would know what to do, and we would come and take care of it, because that's what we do.

We make nice stuff, and we'll fix it if you need us to, or buff the shadow of your sale sticker off, if that ever happens to you.

Blushing

The Architects Newspaper has published its annual resource list,

To our delight, we have been included.

According to AN, "these names are the too-often unacknowledged cornerstones that guarantee the quality and excellence of today's architecture."

Those recognized include architects, contractors, and engineers.
Metal, glass, wood and sustainability are also categories, among others. You'll find GRS under concrete, masonry, stone and tile, of course.

Local ♥

At Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, the FLLAC collections include paintings, sculptures, textiles, photographs, and more. Its focus is to compliment the Vassar curriculum, however, it is open to the public and worth a visit from any art loving local.

Marco Maggi

The piece above is by Marco Maggi, a local artist and draftsman.
His upcoming show, Marco Maggi: Lentissimo, runs from January 20 to April 1, 2012, and includes 14 new works.

Get Credit

We've been working for some time on making our products more sustainable. In the process, we've discovered a lot about why different finishes are considered more or less sustainable, and we've developed a presentation that outlines what we've learned.

The great news is that by listening to our newly developed presentation,
architects can earn 1 LU/HSW/SD credit,
recognized by the AIA Continuing Education System

We'll bring lunch (takes about an hour), and you earn a credit!
It's complimentary and we're super excited to be a part of something real important.

You can read more about it here, or call us and we'll set you up.

In the works...Jet Blue

Form, pour, repeat.

These stairs will be installed at the new Jet Blue headquarters in Queens.
We're making stacks and stacks for multiple staircases.

This is what we do at Get Real. Form, pour, and repeat.
Can't wait to see what they look like installed in the historic Brewster building.

Get Real Legos

We can't even begin to imagine how much time it takes to make a set of these concrete legos

Pretty cool.

Whatever you do, just don't mistake them for these candy legos
That would be really bad.

Done and Done...W Retreat & Spa

Recently featured in ELLE Decor, the W Retreat on Vieques Island is stunning.

At GRS, manufacturing concrete tile, which is what has been installed in all the guest rooms, as well as many common areas, is fairly routine.

Watching the crates being packed and shipped off far away, it is easy to move onto the next project without seeing the end result.

It is inspiring to see the finished project, when all of the elements come together, in this case to create a stylish paradise.
