done + done... phillips de pury

Remember the Phillips de Pury floor we were working on?
You know the one... Cast-in-place concrete with a burnished finish,
colored to match a sweater... stunning?
Take a look.

Thanks to Tony and Joe (from Ocean Pacific Interiors), Sean Cleary (from Phillips de Pury)
and  the get real crew who made the project a great success.

Since we custom color match and color is subjective...
sometimes we get this:

...sometimes it better to err on the verbose.

We've been all hands on deck at the NYC location of Phillips de Pury.
The 15,000 square foot floor is a custom color to match a cashmere sweater (!!!)

P.S. You may know the prestigious gallery / auction house for it's contemporary art
but you should love them for this.

coveted concrete

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
This wallpaper (patterned after concrete) is sincerely the sincerest.

Clean should be the only word to describe the bathroom...
just like this minimal Mondrian (-esque) troweled version.

coveted concrete

Seriously?! Seriously?!
 This is embroidered concrete.
(pause for gasps of disbelief)
Part of the Tactility Factory Girli Concrete line...
and illustrating our point that concrete doesn't have to be cold.

There is some serious press on this building!!

Stay tuned... we'll have more interior pics next week.

It sounds like a nefarious underground rebellion,
but GFRC is actually Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete and it will rock your world...
or at least open up a world of possibilities.
Think lighter and thinner.
Imagine wall and ceiling panels.
Picture the decorative columns and all the colors!

The first day back after a long weekend in tough, but a Times mention softens the blow.
We've been working with Sciame at 257 Bowery diamond polishing the floors.
As usual, we'll keep you posted.

Concrete need not weigh you (or your decor) down.
The trowel applied reception desk at Van Heusen's corporate offices floats through the glass partition, and draws the eye to the entry way.

in the works... field trip

Mill Street Loft's Project ProgramABLE visited our Poughkeepsie location to explore green jobs and how concrete is made.
Each student left with a concrete sample to use for their artwork. We can't wait to see what comes of it!

When is a sink not just a sink? When it's a shelf too!
Workshop/APD designed this multi-purpose, multi-room detail.
The back of this sink extends through the bathroom wall to the hall.

To alleviate some of the kitchen clutter that accumulates (despite our best efforts!),
an integral drainboard is a sleek choice.

Usually we advocate an "it's what's on the inside that matters" approach.
Thanks to Mill Street Loft's community mural project we can say "it's what's on the outside that matters". This is the first of the murals adorning our Poughkeepsie production facility.
Stay tuned for more art....

At this very moment there is a black bear in the tree across the street from our shop.
And boy is it cute!

More often than not, the little things make all the difference.
A simple channel in the middle of a table (filled with champagne!) can transform a summer evening.

Sometimes we can't take the stairs and opt for the window instead.
The Countertop was un-crated and installed after the short flight up.
